You never really think something like this would happen. Fans of manga and anime are in an uproar.  As of next month we will no longer get new material from Bandai Entertainment.

Moblie Suit Gundam Seed Destiny

An excerpt from Anime News Network:

Bandai Entertainment, the subsidiary of Namco Bandai Holdings (USA) that handles anime and manga in North America, will stop offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases next month. It will continue to distribute in its existing catalog lineup, but it will no longer produce and distribute new releases as of this February.

Instead, Bandai Entertainment will focus on licensing rights to other companies, particularly in digital distribution, broadcast, and merchandising. The company will be restructured as a result, and most of its contractors and three of its five fulltime staff members will be laid off. ANN will publish an interview with Bandai Entertainment President and CEO Ken Iyadomi on Tuesday.

Anime DVD/Blu-ray Disc

Gosick
Nichijō
Turn A Gundam

Manga

Code Geass: Renya (Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya)
Gurren Lagann volume 7
Kannagi volumes 4-6
Lucky Star Boo Boo Kagaboo (spinoff by Eretto)
Mobile Suit Gundam 00I
Tales of the Abyss: Jade’s Secret Memories volumes 1 and 2

Releases in Bandai Entertainment‘s current catalog will still be available after February, and Bandai Entertainment plans to produce new stock on these existing releases, if needed, until their respective licenses expire.

The content that this company had to offer was amazing. They will be missed. And it is a crying shame that this is what it’s come to. Well I guess it’s time to go over to Amazon.com and spend some money. Ehat do you say??……………

Sword Of The Stranger: Bandi Entertainment Film

One of the world’s greatest anime’s is getting the live action treatment. Samurai X. The Man Slayer. Kenshin.

I love traditional animated films, computer-animated films are amazing but give me my old-school films anytime, especially from Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. Definitely go see this and the kids can come to if they must.

The Secret World of Arrietty is directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi and stars the voices of Bridgit Mendler and Amy Poehler. It drops on February 17, 2012.

I must say this comic con had it all. Too bad having a press pass means nothing. We (The Amateur Press) were made to run around with nearly no clue. Forced to stand on every single kine that hundreds of people waited on. And it become quite apparent that blogging sucks. I love my little FHTI. But these few days seemed so unorganized and chaotic. Wizard World Con are better. Or maybe it’s New York. Anyway you have it, things were bleak. But when given lemons you make lemonade.

Due to, what to me was was the Press Black Out nearly all the panels were missed. No advanced entry. And you couldn’t wait for the next panel to start. Even though it was scheduled to begin fifteen minutes after the last one started. We had to laugh it was so bad. But hey, “Se la Vi”( That’s Just The Way It’s Goes). Darkhorse Comics Showed me the most love. A long stream of emails with goodies. They will be posted soon.  Here are a ton of Pics of some of the things we saw at comic con.

 The Line and the entrance:

Although we were made to wait on line as any regular fan, it felt good to be with my comic and anime fans again. In the beginning it was surprisingly quiet. But it was Friday. There were a few video camera guys out there. And all the security and staff were very helpful. From this vantage point you really couldn’t see much. The show room floor was empty and we got a nice look at the entrance. By the time we got inside, complete pandemonium. For anyone with a standard digital camera it was every man/woman for themselves. Immediately upon entering the game studios dominate the floor. Capcom to the right. Square Enix to the left. The video games got alot of love. All the comic book booths were huge and separated from each other. That was a little odd. But I have been out of the comic con world for a while. Without a road map you will not find anyone you are looking for. It is best to go as a pure fan. For all of us that have blogs and such, and are not given so extra leeway for getting to close to the creators …do it for the fun of it. whatever you can get your hands on. Or whoever you meet make the best of it. You’ll enjoy yourself so much more. I took inventory of my pictures. It was over 150 pics. I’m not going to post all of the but I will put more up soon. I will say this. Next time I will take a lot of time to play all the games that surrounded me. I didn’t play a thing. Way too focused on the panels. I forgot to have some hands on with these great titles. Of course FF XIII-2 was pretty. And Resident Evil Raccoon City was astonishing to look at. But the Street Fighter X Tekken crown Ruled it all. It was fun just to watch. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more FHTI at NYCC 2011.
