The holidays are fast approaching. And with that a ton of new games will hitting the market. What will you buy? How many games are worth purchasing? And what exactly is coming out? Many of us will be buying our own games. Some of us will be getting them as gifts. In order to make sure we don’t buy something that sucks, or better yet, that someone else doesn’t buy us a crappy game we have to know just what we want. With so many titles for the various consoles available, it can get a bit confusing just what to get. Do you own an Xbox 360 or a PS3?  A Nintendo DS or a PSP Go? Are you in the market to buy a new console? Whatever it is you’ll everything you need for your video game shopping desires.

Consoles:

Xbox 360:

Microsoft is giving people a nice variety of bundles this year. One of course stands out among the others. The Modern Warfare 2 Bundle for $399. It is what the would be hardcore Xbox gamer would  buy. The bundle comes with 2 controllers, a headset, Modern Warfare 2 and an artfully rendered Xbox 360 with a 250gb hard drive. The Xbox 360 Elite is also now $299.

PlayStation 3:

Sony now has the awesome looking and lower priced PS3 for $299. Bundles have been mentioned but nothing advertised yet. I would look for that Uncharted 2 Among Thieves Bundle around the release of the game October13. This bundle is supposed to sport a 250gb hard drive also. For more info, check out my 5 reasons to buy a PS3.

Wii:

Nintendo’s rock star is the same unstoppab;e machine it has been. With a price drop to$199, is there a reason not to have one one these machines. Great games. A ton of old school titles for those of us that never get tired of Super Mario, and Excite Bike. Wii Fit Plus. Wii Sports Resort. And more mature titles headed to the console. For everyone it’s a win win situation.

Hand Held Consoles:

PSP; PSPGo:

The psp is finally gaining some momentum. With good titles and a lower price it seems as Sony is getting a foot hold in the hand held console world. With the new psp go and it’s all digital content and internal hard drive, Sony is looking to push forward into another level. You canget any psp bundle for $199 or the psp go for $249.

Games:

First, this is not a list of every game for this holiday. But a list at games that are blockbusters, regardless if you personally don’t like them. And Some must play must buy games. Let’s take a look at exclusives first. Neither system has a ton of exclusives but each console is offering something. Although PS3 looks like it will balance better this year.

PS3:

Ratchet and Clank Future A Crack In Time

Demon’s Souls

God of War Collection

The PS3 offers something for every age group. From a classic PS2 game coming to blu ray. To Two sequel to some of the most amazing franchises to come out out of Sony.  An action shooter, an action plat former, an RPG and an action adventure. No exclusive driving game, but that will be here in March.

Xbox 360:

Halo: ODST

x-halo

Magna Carta 2

x-magna

Forza 3

x-forza

Left For Dead 2

x-left

All of Xbox exclusives are sequels. A good hold on the market Microsoft brings a 2  First Person Shooters. One an old favorite. And the other a horror game. They also have an RPG. And a well grounded driving game. Nothing that really jumps off the shelf, but a decent line up.

Both Console Games:

Assassins Creed 2

COD: Modern Warfare 2

Dragon Age Origins

These are the games that if you don’t at least rent them, you’ll regret it later on. The New Year is going to be out of control. So you should grab some of these good titles early. It’s a given that if you don’t take time to enjoy these now, after the New Year comes in they’ll be a distant memory. I know some guys are like, WHAT no sports games. I just don’t go there. If you like a sport, you like it. And that’s all about that.  As for Nintendo DS and PSP games, well your own your own. But I’ll throw in a few honorable mentions.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition

Assassins Creed Bloodlines

Well there you have it. All the gaming pleasure you can get before years end. Dig deep. And only buy what is on fire. Anything less will only ruin your Christmas. And no one wants that’s.

    Good List,

I’m getting Uncharted and MW2 as soon as they release.
I’m definitely getting GoW Collection for Christmas and maybe Tekken 6, Assassins Creed 2 or R&C (although I never played the other ones)…I’ll end up getting one of them

Hi - the writing here are great. Thanks for having them. I don’t have time to read everything here right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Google, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will check back soon to see the latest news. My wife and I love playing Wii games together. We have such a great time when we are playing them. It’s really a nice bonding experience. And I really enjoy trying to improve my scores on the Wii Fit. That yoga module is so relaxing while at the same giving a nice yoga-based workout. I have a small site about the Wii. Please check out my site at http://www.Wii-Chip.com when you have time and please let me know what you think. Thanks again for this site - it is really well-done. Thanks again - great site!
