PSP Go! Prelaunch:Should We Believe The Hype?

There is no mistake that we all love video games to some extent. But more often than not we question if video games deserve the love that so many fans give them. During the current console war we have seen the Wii and Nintendo DS out sell everything. Xbox Live has grown beyond even Microsoft’s ability to maintain. And Sony’s price drop with the emergence of the PS3 Slim.

This holiday season will bring about one of the greatest number of titles to ever ship. So many in fact that quite a few are fighting over the first quarter if 2010. With all this chaos brewing, there is little mention, or anticipation for Sony’s PSP Go! This years E3 was jammed with PSP Go! hype. Since then it seems to have died down. Or is Sony just waiting for next weeks Tokyo Game Show? The launch for PSP Go is only 2 weeks away, but PS3 slim is hogging the lime light. This newer rendition of Sony’s hand held needs a push.
With a 16 GB hard drive and no umd slot, psp go is really looking like the next best thing for portable gaming. In Europe they have announced that a Gran Turismo bundle will be available at launch. There has yet to be any bundle announced for the U.S. Big mistake. A bundle is what really sells the system. It’s the holiday season, and some incentive should be given to the consumer. If not a bundle then at least a good line up of titles on launch. I don’t have a psp. Although I am looking forward to the psp go. Without having to lug around umd’s, it becomes quite convenient as a portable. It’s smaller than the psp 3000. And you can carry several movies and games with no extra baggage. Great right?! Not so great really. It’s all about the content.
Truly I’d be a little upset to open my psp go, hit the PlayStation Store and find it wanting. Certain older titles should be available for download at launch. I mean everyone is looking for the new games. But if I had a psp already and bought a psp go, I’d like to have my library in tack. well I have to tell the truth. I just want certain games to download myself. Here’s a quick list. These games are cool to me, and also would make a nice addition to the psp go launch.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

God of War Chains of Olympus

Resistance Retribution
GTA: Liberty City Stories

Those are just a few, but would sure make for better playing on the new psp. Before and after October 1, the PSP Go’s launch day, there are a ton of titles coming out. All and I strongly imply ALL of those games should be available on the PSN to download onto the psp go. That alone will cause the hand held to jump off of shelves. Titles such as Persona, Motor Storm: Arctic Edge, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Little Big Planet, and Assassins Creed: Bloodlines will have have eager gamers (myself included) more than ready to drop $250. Also with the new mini’s that will debuting on the psp go hopefully more developers will start to support Sony’s hand held. If Sony proves that they are capable of doing that, then the PSP Go will definitely become the wreaking ball everyone has been waiting for. After next week we’ll see exactly what Sony has planed for this little machine. I personally wouldn’t mind an Assassins Creed PSP Go. They do have one for the PSP 3000. But me….. It’s PSP GO! all the way. Should we believe the hype? Believe It!!!
