This years Sony Conference was really not a surprise. We were delighted to have a really great show put forth by Sony. The thing is I was looking to be blown away. And that did not happen. I speak for all the guys that don’t have money or time to play EVERYTHING. Four years since launch and these guys are still not giving us what we want. And that is to say all we want is more Kevin Butler stuff with super game titles on top.

I’ll get all my grips out of the way first. Which really aren’t many. Sony pushed the Move so mush I feel that the true powerhouse games didn’t get to shine. There was a great void where games should have been. No Resistance 3 even whispered about. and that game was what made me want a PS3 at launch. The Last Guardian was noticeably absent. What happened!?!?!? Nothing note worthy for the PSP. Except the new push. But you can’t push something without the software. The extra fast video footage of this great montage of titles is supposed to satisfy us? What I say? Sony still is the best out of all the rest.

Sony Began with a big bang. 3D gaming is going to their next baby. Pushing the 3D tech and the Sony bravia 3D televisions. The Killzone 3 demo was in  3D. And boasted a ton of titles that would utilize 3D technology.

Just to name a few. Also there were a few games to  actually make you want to buy the PlayStation Move. Sorcery is an action adventure game that works PERFECTLY with Move’s control. This game looks and performs wonderfully. Heroes On The Move is a title that will feature many of the mascots from Sony. Ratchet, Jax, Sly(Cooper), Clank, and Daxter. The great Mascot game. Buy it. Play it. Love it. The PlayStation Move will be available on September 19 in the U.S.

The new “Kevin Butler“ for the PSP is a great idea. Marcus will no doubt be just as good for the PSP as Kevin Butler has become for the PS3. An awesome spokes person that can throw dirt at the competition without flinching is always funny to watch. And good for publicity. The PSp will be getting a few titles to push it even further. We can expect Marcus to have a slew of gimmick ads and commercial just like K.B. but with the Marcus twist.SOme of The games to look forward to are:

Many of these game will probably be bundles with the PSP. Let’s just hope that they come with thew PSP GO!

The PlayStation Network is offering a new premium package for the PSN. This will be called PlayStation Plus. It will be offered in two iteration. The first for $18 for 3 months. And the other $50 for the entire year. The year subscription comes with WipeOut HD, two mini’s, avatars and extra map packs and DLC. Just in the first month. You also get beta’s automatically.  So you can imagine it will end up being a great amount of extra content for the year.

Sony has acquired a few exclusives. Concerning content. Sony will have a Special Edition of Medal of Honor. It will be packed with MOH: Frontline. Available October 12. Also They will have a Dead Space 2 Limited Edition packed with Dead Space Extraction. And yes it will be PlayStation Move Compatible.

Portal 2 will also be making it’s way to the PS3. Which was thought to never be made for the console. Look for many trailers and other news soon.

In my opinion this was one of the top three title that was shown at the Sony conference. Truly I believe Sony to be the lead for first party games. Infamous 2 is just what the doctor ordered.

Somethings are a given. And the way Nintendo handles their conference is one of those things. Saying that is was dry and bland can’t even begin to describe it. No matter how great the games andhardware are. It wouldn’t hurt to show a little showmanship. A little?!?!?

Anyway, this year Nintendo did deliver the goods in a much more hardcore fashion than they have in the past. Starting with a new Zelda title “Skyward Sword. and of course we got hit over the head with the casual stick. But to their credit they didn’t go over board. Finally we got a nice complement of games for both the DS and Wii.

There was nothing shocking. We heard the 3DS was coming. and all the fanfare felt good but not seeing anything in actual 3D kinda hurt. I guess I had to be there. Well we all can;t get to California. The successor to Nintendo’s DSi looks nearly the same. A larger screen on top. And only one touch screen om the bottom. The fact that you can go in and out of 3d at any time is great. The machine and tech are all very slick. But no release date and no price.

As for the games. Zelda is always nice to see. And truly I could do without the extensive movements. For me the option to use an old controller should be available. That’s just me. Zelda Skyward Sword looked amazing and will no doubt be a fantastic play through. Goldeneye 007 returns on the Wii. And really that’s all that matters. The only other games that stuck out were Kid Ikarus Uprising, which is looking out of this world. playing that on the 3DS will blow your mind. And of course my favorite. Metroid The Other M. There is nothing I did not like about this title. On August 31 I will be there to pick it up. Team ninja have out done themselves.

See that Nintendo has a good number of publishers making games for the 3DS. I believe that this new handheld will have a very big impact on hardcore gamers. Nothing says buy me like those games that you have come to love. Capcom / Resident Evil, Ubisoft / Assassins Creed, Square Enix / Kingdom Hearts, and Konami / Metal Gear. What more can you say!?!

Hideo Kojima is one of the BEST video game creator/ producers. Everything that he has his hand in we want. Now again this year he has a special E3 site revealing the games from his production studio. Metal Gear Rising was unveiled yesterday. And there is a black and White picture of Castlevania Lords of Shadow. Which I am hoping to see MUCH MORE of today. And by far LOS is the one game I am very excited to see. The last game is who knows what. But behind the question marl you can see a Russian scythe. All I can say is that Kojima Productions delivers.
