The follow up to 2008’s masterpiece Iron Man, was release last week, but was it more Empire Strikes Back or Chronicles of Riddick. Well thankfully the latter will remain as the worst sequel ever, well at least for now.

The Good:
The Special Effects were exquisite as expected, Jon Favreau showed his love and respect for the subject matter and character with another stellar stint in the director’s chair. Robert Downey’s portal of Tony Stark was again precise as it was spectacular. I didn’t know how the Whiplash character or should I say the combination of Crimson Dynamo/ Whiplash character was going to play out or even how I felt about this truncated character but Mickey Rourke’s scene steeling performance easily outshines the character. The expanded cast including Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) though there screen time was small and for the purpose of setting up the Avengers, they contributed to the plot and the atmosphere of the movie without detraction.

The Bad:
The chase into the final fight was beautiful but drawn out, and lacked the dire feel of Iron Monger. And Whiplash’s final suit, although I understand the thought process behind its design within the scope of the movie, it was still disappointing.

Conclusion:
This was a great flick, Jon Favreau has done the near impossible an out done himself. Robert Downey Jr. continues the performance of his life, added to a outstanding cast, script and effects equals the movie to beat. And the one all other action movies will be judged against this summer. Now comes the hardest endeavor in all of movie making, the dreaded third movie and Marvel does not exactly have a good track record in that department. And as always stay past the end credits; it is a Marvel movie after all.

Well I really can’t say that I’m surprised. But I am very happy to see that they are keeping to the formula of connecting these movies into The Avengers. Hey I am a fan boy all the way. Comics, Posters, Statues , Blurays and all. The movie comes out Friday. But I got the Avengers spoiler right here. SO turn away if your a purest. Special thanks to my boy Sam for the heads up of this very short and awesome clip. Don’t forget Iron Man 2 will be in IMAX. It’s the only way to see it. Well that and on Bluray that is. But that will be this winter.

No matter how many times you see certain things it never gets old. And it’s that way with Iron Man 2. Something this cool, you can never get enough of.

It may just seem like the same stuff being shown all over again. And for the most part it is. This trailer will help identify all the players in the sequel. For all the non comic book folks out there ,which is considerable. You guys get more well defined dialogue in this piece. And a look into the characters of Iron Man 2. It’s cool to me. But then again. I’ve been a comic geek for a long time. lol

Tony Stark, Rhodes, and Pepper Potts. Iron Man, War Machine, and The Black Widow. Whiplash. Yea he’s cool too. Nuff Said

Well if anything can inspire me to post it’s the release of the IRON MAN 2 trailer.  Check it out in HD right here…

It’s pretty darn awesome too.  Whiplash looks way more sinister than I thought he would.  How about the effects for his tentacles?  And quick glimpses of War Machine and Black Widow!  Aaaaah.

Mickey Rourke is playing Whiplash in Iron Man 2. His Character Ivan Vanko is a Russian who has constructed his own type of Iron Man armor. Anton Vanko from Marvel was a Russian that became the Crimson Dynamo. Director Favreau seems to be integrating two characters into one. Taking the name and nationality of one villain and the whips of the other. This is our first look at Rourke as Whiplash. His unfinished armor looks similar to Starks from Iron Man. No doubt the final look will be a cross between the Crimson Dynamo and Whiplash. And more like Whiplash from the new Iron Man Armored Adventures cartoon. Iron Man 2 opens May 7, 2010.
