Road To The Avengers

Here we have a little video short of the road to the Avengers. Of course I have to add my own little flare to it. So if you’re a fan, or if you’ve never watched any of these superhero films; this is for you. I do not lie. Marvel has crafted some of the best superhero films ever. If you have not seen these films, do it. You will not be disappointed. And as always Blu-ray makes it all better.

Disney D23 Expo: Avengers

avengers d23 header Disney D23 Expo: Avengers

Things are really heating up over Marvel’s Avengers. I’m trying not to have spoiler overload on FHTI. But some things just can’t be avoided. I have a video and pics introducing the cast at the D23 Expo. And also a few pics. Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, and Director Joss Whedon were not in attendance. I guess we’ll be hearing about that scene soon. Below is an excerpt from Comingsoon.net about the footage shown at the expo.

Feige revealed writer-director Joss Whedon is, at the time of this writing, two weeks out from wrapping The Avengers and he had cobbled together a special preview for D23. The lights dimmed and the following played out…

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) takes his place in a prison of glass and metal. We presume he’s on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Hellicarrier. Loki assesses his surroundings, but doesn’t appear impressed. More amused. Nick Fury types away on a keypad nearby, threatening that if Loki even touches the glass, he’ll meet a certain doom. But again, Loki isn’t deterred by this. He’s confident this prison won’t hold him. Fury begs to differ, saying it was built to hold something powerful.

“You threaten my world with war. Steal a force you can’t control. You have made me desperate,” Fury says. Hinting, of course, to the Tesseract (the Cosmic Cube) seen in Captain America. Loki and Fury continue their tête-à-tête and we find that the Avengers have been assembled in another room and they’re listening in. Elsewhere on the Helicarrier, we get a glimpse of Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), also monitoring the Fury/Loki encounter.

This extended scene flows well; the dialogue has a tight rhythm as these two large personalities, separated by glass, face one another. The intensity palpable. One gets the sense if Loki wants out… he’ll get the hell out. But there’s something else simmering in his motivations and, of course, we don’t know what it is, because this scene gives way to a second teaser trailer, of sorts.

Enticing imagery that flies by furiously: A S.H.I.E.L.D. jet soars towards a city. Thor raises his hammer to the sky. Hawkeye taking aim with his bow and arrow. Loki standing on the back of a military vehicle (at least that’s what it looked like, it flew by). Steve Rogers stands before a hi-tech closet. The doors pull away to reveal his revamped costume. Thor slams his hammer down on the shield of a crouching Captain America (training perhaps?). This is all inter-cut with Tony Stark, standing behind a bar making a drink, as he makes an Avengers “roll call”: Two highly trained assassins, a “Demigod,” a “living legend who actually lives up to the legend”… “Somehow you managed to piss them all off,” Stark adds. We find he’s talking to Loki, who is standing in the room with him.

Loki responds to this with, “I have an army.”

Stark quickly shoots back, “We have a Hulk.”

The presentation ends with a close-up shot of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk snarling at the camera, then, The Avengers logo slams onto the screen.

Avengers Set Pics and Video

It seems some big deal went down on one of the Avengers sets. An explosion. Rubble. And people running all over the place. Pretty cool. But really no sign of the heroes. I suspect that it’s Loki destroying things. Or the rampaging Hulk.

This what DC Comics is afraid of. And exactly what EVERY fan boy dreams of. Although the pic is not hi def by any means. It does give us a small look into the window of Joss Whedon’s movie extravaganza. Noticeably are the changes in Ironman and Captain America’s uniforms. For the first promo pis it is just great. Now if we could only get some set pics.

SDCC 2010: Marvel Annouces The Avengers Cast

Now that the big three have had or begun to film their individual films. Joss Whedon took his time out at this weeks San Diego Comic Con to herald in the full cast of the Avengers film. Robert Downy Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man. As well as Samuel L Jackson and Scarlett Johannson as Nick Fury and Black Widow respectively. Chris Hemsworth as Thor . And Chris Evans as Captain America. Jeremy Renner has been cast to play the archer Hawkeye. And Mark Ruffalo has replaced Ed Norton as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Lets just hope they use the same CGI model from the Incredible Hulk. The Avengers is slated for a Summer 2012 release, and will be written and directed by Joss Whedon. Also check out this AWESOME poster by Alex Ross. Entitled Avengers Assemble!!!!!!!!!

Marvels Anime Iron Man Trailer

Sporting a familiar look as Iron Man Armored  Adventures. This Japanese take on the character is just perfect. And it doesn’t hurt that I love anime either.

SDCC 2010: Marvel Anime Coming In 2011

This is a big and pleasant  surprise. Finally there is some word from Marvel in the development and release of Marvels Anime cartoons. The following is taken from Comics Continuuim.

SAN DIEGO — Marvel hosted the world premiere of the Iron Man anime TV series at Comic-Con International on Friday. Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s head of television, announced that the show will air on G4.

“I can tell you this,” Loeb said. “You know G4. They’re going to let the world know we’re there.”

The series, along with three others focusing on Wolverine, the X-Men and Blade, will be produced by Madhouse, in Japanese with subtitles.

The Iron Man episode screened at the panel is called Enter Iron Man, and is set in Japan, where Tony Stark is talking with the Japanese people about the development of the Iron Man Dio armor, which he hopes to send into production soon. There is also a rumor in the air that Iron Man is retiring.

After the screening, the panel, moderated by Kristin Adams of G4, included Madhouse chief creator Masao Maruyama, John Rieber, head of programming at G4, and Loeb.

Highlights included:

* “The anime is going to live in its own kind of universe,” Loeb said. “It isn’t going to be anything that is radically different.”

* Loeb also commented on the approach. “There was no point in making an Iron Man movie without doing it properly. You’ve already seen some of the stuff online for Thor, for Captain America. We always want to do it right. We always want to be true to the original characters. … Madhouse is the best.”

* “I’m sure all of you guys all have your own images of what Marvel should look like, and we have our own images,” Maruyama said through an intepreter, explaining that Madhouse will find a meeting point between the two. “When we first created Japanese anime, what we did was we created anime based on things like Astro Boy, and back then the young people were happy with what they saw, but they wanted more and wanted something different. Fifteen years ago I was very young and wanted to see something different. We wanted to go in the style of American graphic novels, so back then myself and my friend created this genre of Japanese animation, anime. So Japanese anime, its roots, are really graphic novels of America. So this was not really any different to do in that sense. It was like the son returning to his father.”

* “Our doing anime with Marvel doesn’t mean we’re going to have our characters wearing Samurai hairdo,” Maruyama said. “When we do what we do, we’re not doing something very different from what Marvel is doing.”

* Rieber talked about what the series would mean for G4: “First, obviously you guys know when you heard this lineup, Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men and Blade, these are the most iconic superheroes that are out there, and what Marvel has done with them in so many different ways is phenomenal. For us to be the home to the next extension of where these characters are going to go is really phenomenal.

“.G4, we’re the only network that’s live here from Comic-Con. We love everything about what goes on here. What we love is this culture. We love what Marvel speaks to this culture. … Beginning with Tony Stark, to take his story in all new directions creatively, and to be the place where you guys see this is so phenomenal. … We love that these characters and these franchises are going to go that direction, because as a network, we air an awful lot of stuff like Ninja Warrior that you wouldn’t see in the United States otherwise.

marvel anime wolverine2 SDCC 2010: Marvel Anime Coming In 2011

“We’re really one of the only networks that uses subtitles in any programming. We’re really excited about this show because we think it really fits in with what we do.”

* The Iron Man series will air in 2011. “We’re going to work very closely with Marvel to look at the right time to premiere it and how to premiere it,” Rieber said. “Of course, you’re going to know about it before it airs. This is literally a huge leap forward for G4 in terms of our programming. … Obviously animation is a very ambitious project. We’re going to work very closely with Marvel, and we’re going to get them on the air as soon as we can.”

Concept Art: First Look At Marvel Paramounts Thor

On the heels of concept art for Captain America, come Chris Hemsworth as Thor. I truly have to say that Marvel is putting their money where their mouth is. They are a studio that is on fire. If they put forth the intensity of these conceptualized pictures on to the big screen “nothing will stop the juggernaut”. No pun intended. It all looks great to me. Cape, armor, breastplate, pants, boots, and the hammer.  All I an say is Make Mine Marvel. lol
