Thundercats is giving me more than I could have asked for. Mum-Ra was once an ally of the Thundercats!?!?! That is just crazy. I love it. Here are some pics and a clip of a future episode, titled “Legacy”.

“Panthro finally joins the team, but his gruff demeanor intimidates Lion-O. Despite his best efforts, Panthro can’t dissuade the Cats from following him on a mission to get Thundrillium to fuel the Thundertank. Plus, a mission leads Panthro to his old nemesis: Grune!”

The new Thundercats series is really doing well. The Cartoon Network is rolling the episodes out. Here are some pics and two clips of the upcoming episode.

The episode is titled, ” Songs of the Petalars”. And is described as thus: “On the run from the unstoppable lizard army, Lion-O fears for his life. While hiding, he encounters a race of creatures who live out their entire lifetime in 24 hours, and learns a valuable lesson about hope. Plus, the highly anticipated debut of Panthro and the Thundertank!”

I am very excited to see this cartoon. It would seem that a lot of thought has gone into this remake. And even the original voice Lion-O has a part to play. Thundercats has become more of what we the fans have always thought it to be. An anime. Now we finally get a cartoon that is worthy to sit on the shelves with our Avatar The Last Airbender DVD’s. And don’t feel confused the preview isn’t the first 9 minutes of the show. But an amalgam of scenes edited together.

Many of the remakes of old cartoons don’t stand up to the quality of the series that birth them. Thundercats is looking to break that trend. On Friday July 29 at 8pm The new Thundercats will debut with a one hour special.

Starting August 5 the show will air regularly on Friday nights at 8:30pm.

“Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats! Ho!! On Third Earth, the kingdom of Thundera is being threatened by the evil sorcerer Mumm-Ra, and Lion-O, the young heir to the throne, embarks on a great quest to take his rightful place as king. The unlikely champion must work with his faithful comrades Tygra, Cheetara, Panthro, WilyKit, WilyKat, and his loyal pet, Snarf, who join him on his journey to save their world from darkness.”
